KTN Learning Ecosystem
Leading and empowering a community through remote collaboration design

THE CHALLENGE
Innovate UK KTN is a public sector agency specialised in delivering in-person events, workshops and conferences. With Covid-19 hitting the UK, the organisation was suddenly unable to carry out its work as normal. As an organisation with a distributed team, it needed new ways of working that would break down silos and help teams truly collaborate.
THE APPROACH
The goal of this project was to help the organisation embrace the new remote way of working by sharing human-centered design tools to supercharge the organisation's ability to deliver new client-facing digital workshops and events. This required digital-first facilitation skills training, peer learning and collaboration opportunities.
With a focus on culture transformation and working closely with the senior leadership team, I helped the organisation leverage human-centered design and agile methodologies to enable the organisation transform and re-organise all the in-person work to be delivered remotely. To do this I led the setting up of an Experiential Learning Ecosystem aimed to nurture and empower an online community of practice around workshop design and facilitation.

THE RESULT
By intersecting quantitative data and qualitative interview learnings we were able to track the impact that the Experiential Learning Ecosystem had on the organisation - this is what emerged:

the community of facilitators we nurtured changed how the organisation delivered value to its clients, maintaining revenue streams through the disruption and generating new income opportunities for Innovate UK KTN

the people we trained felt more resilient, creatively confident and better equipped to thrive in 'remote mode'

thanks to the ease of collaboration enabled through the learning programme, our participants felt the organisation was less siloed and able to deliver more high-quality work through cross-functional collaboration.
